Liens & Levies
Sometimes a taxpayer will receive a notice that the IRS plans to place a lien on their property for unpaid taxes, or that a Levy or Garnishment will be placed on their wages. In these cases, a Collection Due Process Hearing must be requested to determine if there is a less invasive alternative that fits the taxpayer’s circumstances. You only qualify for this type of hearing if you receive a notice from the IRS notifying you of the hearing and allowing 30 days to request it. If you have not received such a notice, or if you received the notice more than 30 days ago, you can still work with the IRS to resolve your tax issue.
