Local attorney donates 250 hours to low-income clients
Matthew J. McHugh, Esq., was presented the Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida (CLSMF) 2016 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year award in recognition of his work and commitment to increasing access to justice in Citrus County. CLSMF is a nonprofit law firm providing free legal assistance and advocacy to help low- and moderate-income people obtain the basic necessities of life: food, shelter, health care, safety and education.
In the seven years he has been a part of organization’s Volunteer Lawyers Project, McHugh has donated an astounding 250 hours of his time to serve CLSMF clients, according to a news release. The cases that he assisted with ranged from consumer issues to housing and family law problems. McHugh now hosts free legal advice clinics in his office every month through the program.
